I had been dreaming of building an entertainment wall in our new house but never had the time to do the work. Then COVID hit and our school was moved to remote learning. None of us could leave the house and suddenly I had time to start a project that I could actually finish! So, I ordered everything online from Lowe’s and did a curbside pickup. The building began!

Because of our surround sound system, I had to determine how I would run all the cords. I decided to leave the cabinets away from the wall several inches so I built a base to allow for the room. Attaching all the cabinets together. Cut hole in back of one of the cabinets for the surround sound system to fit (and all the cords that go with it) Surround sound system behind doors. My favorite tool when building (see my link to purchase). Building the custom made countertop from planks of wood. Perfect set pilot holes on the underneath side. I also labeled all my pieces so I would be able to easily put it back together Lining them up and screwing together. Added a support cleat for my counter since I have a gap between wall & cabinets. Counter stained and poly layers added. Also routered the edges for a nice rounded finish. Cut two holes in top for power cords to snake through. Rounding the edges with my router. Building the shelves. Used my Kreg Jig again for the perfect pocket holes and tight secure finish. Building the side shelving units. Center unit added. I drilled Kreg Jig holes on the bottom of this center shelf since it was so large, and attached to the studs of wall for added support. Finished unit! Side View. Added crown molding on the top for a custom finished look. Makes such a difference! Really finishes the room. It’s hard to imagine NOT having this in our living room!
